Principles of Effective
Discipline:

- Treat children with
dignity and respect.
- Effective teaching reduces
discipline problems.
- Students need a limited
say in what happens in the classroom.
- Most discipline problems
result from how we teach and treat children.
- Bored students become
discipline problems.
- Children usually act out
for one of the following reasons – attention, revenge, power,

Oak Springs Incentive Plan
Our incentive plan has been
formed to reinforce positive behavior and academic advancement.
The leading component of our incentive plan is our Campus Plan for
Responsibility (CPR) chart, on which teachers record students'
positive and/or negative behavior weekly. Below is an outline of
the Oak Springs Incentive Plan.
Student of the Week
Teachers have the opportunity to
pick one student a week who has shown outstanding positive
behavior. That student is presented with a Student of the Week
button and recognized on the morning announcements by the
principal.
Student of the Month
Teachers are allowed to pick one
Student of the nine weeks for their class based on:
- Less than 2 marks on the CPR
chart
- Passing Grades in all classes
- Perfect attendance no excused
absences or tardies
The Student of the nine weeks is
recognized at the monthly Parent Coffee, where parents meet with
the principal for open discussion. There the student will be
presented with a certificate of recognition during the last 15
minutes of the meeting.
The Student of the nine weeks
will also participate in a luncheon that takes place every nine
weeks along with other Students of the nine weeks. This luncheon
is usually held at off-campus venues.
Perfect Attendance
The Perfect Attendance incentive
is awarded to a class for spelling out “Perfect” with seven days
of perfect attendance and a higher level of incentive for spelling
out “Perfect Attendance” with 17 days of perfect attendance.
Dolphin Walk Tickets
These are given out by any staff
member for a teacher’s class meeting hallway expectations.
